Babe Zaharias

Babe Zaharias was an exceptional and multi-talented US athlete and golfer, winning amongst so many other medals and titles, the British Ladies’ Amateur title at Gullane in 1947. She turned professional and went on to win every major ladies professional title before she died of cancer in 1956 aged just 45 years.

The Babe Zaharias tournament is held to perpetuate her memory and is administered by East Lothian Ladies County Association (ELLCA). For further information, please see the ELLCA website:

The 2025 tournament

  • Booking will open at 7.00pm on Wednesday 18th of June.
  • The tournament will take place on Monday 18th August at Luffness Golf Club.

Once open for booking, entry will be via the My Scottish Golf app - the competition will be under 'Events' and choose 'East Lothian Ladies County Association' as the Club and 'Open' for the type of competition.
