We made a good start to our 2018 tournament with a 2.5 win in the morning foursomes.
Rachael Livingstone & Kate MacIntosh halved with Megan Briggs & Carol Wilson
Louise Fraser & Carys Irvine beat Donna Jackson & Jennifer Rankine 2/1
Karen Ferguson-Snedden & Alison McBride beat Gillian Kyle & Alison McGinnigle 4/2
The afternoon proved to be a very different kettle of fish. The Renfrewshire players were determined not to lose on home turf. With Eilidh Briggs managing to leave work early they were at full strength. Megan Briggs beat Kate McIntosh 4/3 while Eilidh beat Louise Fraser 5/4 and Jennifer Rankine beat Rachael Livingstone at the 17th, 2/1. Alison McBride played well to beat Gillian Kyle 5/4. That left our hopes resting on Caroline Steedman and Wendy Nicholson playing Donna Jackson & Liz Stewart respectively to get the 1.5 points needed to win. However the home players proved to be terriers of the first degree and secured wins of 3/2 & 1 hole.
We lost 3.5 – 5.5 and were a pretty disappointed bunch. Tomorrow’s another day and we face Aberdeenshire determined to fight hard.
