Champion of Champions Final

This takes place at Royal Burgess Golf Club on Sunday 7th September at 12 noon.

East of Scotland girls Championship

Congratulations to Rachael Watton ( Mortonhall) on winning the championship. She beat Gabrielle MacDonald ( Craigielaw) in the final. The losing semifinalists were Nicki Taylor and Gillian Simpson. The matches were played at Craigmillar Park Golf Club.

Autumn meeting at Turnhouse Golf Course on Monday 8th September

Centenary Polo Shirt

The centenary polo shirts are now available from the treasurer, at the next committee meeting and at the autumn meeting.
The shirts are Glenmuir Sophie and are available in sizes from small to extra large.
The cost is £18. There are also some caps, visors and gilets.

Senior news

Congratulations to Fiona de Vries on reaching the final of the Scottish Senior Ladies Championship at Deeside. She lost a very close match to Lorna Bennet at the 20th.
Noreen, Pam and Fiona Hunter also qualified for the matchplay.

Fiona de Vries and Fiona Hunter have been selected for the Scottish team at the European women's team championship in the Netherlands. The team is captained by Joan Marshall.
This is being played from 2 to 5 September.

Vets Jamboree at Southerness
Fiona de Vries, Fiona Hunter and Pam Williamson have been selected for the Scottish team.
This is being played from 12 to 14 August.

Pam Williamson has announced her retirement from Senior golf. She has a great record. We wish her well with her other commitments to senior and vets golf.

Jane Turner reached the final and lost to Katy McNicoll at the 20th.
Gillian Simpson also qualified for the matchplay and lost in the first round.
Kirsty Simpson qualified for the handicap matchplay and lost in the first round.

Scottish under 18 Championship at Alyth Golf Club
Five Midlothian girls qualified for the top 32 matchplay.
Rachael Watton(6), Gabrielle MacDonald(14), Kate McIntosh(19), Gillian Simpson(26) and Cara Easton(24).
Rachael and Gillian won their first round matches.
Kirsty Simpson won the under 14 handicap prize.
Carly Booth beat Kelsey McDonald in the final.

Under 21 Scottish Stroke play at Powfoot.
Kelsey McDonald won with a score of 211.

Cara, Kate, Gabrielle and Gillian also played.

East of Scotland girls championship at Craigmillar Park
Due to the mist, this event is unfinished.
Rachael Watton won the scratch with 74 and Gabrielle was second with 79.
Rachael, Gabrielle, Cara, Gillian and Kate all qualified for the matchplay.
The semi-final and the final will now be played on 31st August.
Please come along and support the girls. You will see some great golf.

Coaching at Braids Driving Range
The letters have been sent out by email. Please reply promptly. The new block starts on 7th September and is on the first Sunday of the month for 5 months till January.

Midlothian Championship at Ratho park on 14th September
All girl members of MCLGA who have handicaps can play in this competition. Please send in your entries.

Adult and girl Foursomes at Kilspindie Golf Club
There is an SLGA competition on 28th September. Entries through the SLGA website. The girls do not need to have handicaps. Please support this competition.

Girls golf at Ballumbie Castle




Congratulations to the East Girls team who won the Interdivision foursomes golf today.

They halved their matches with South and North on the Saturday and won against West on the Sunday.
Four midlothian girls were in the team - Cara Easton, Gabrielle MacDonald, Gillian Simpson and Rachael Watton.

This match was played on a lovely summer evening on Gullane 2. The matches were keenly contested. The final score was 2 matches to each team.

Match: MCLGA v Duddingston Men
On Friday 30th May, Midlothian Ladies played a match against Duddingston Men at Duddingston Golf Club. Luckily the rain from earlier in the day disappeared and we had a lovely evening. The course was in great condition and the matches enjoyed by all who played, with various stories being recounted over supper. In a hard fought battle, the match ended all square. Our thanks go to Duddingston Golf Club for their continued support of the County Ladies and to Hinton Bootland, the Club Match Secretary for his organisation.

Mid-summer Foursomes 19th May at Liberton Golf Club

Thanks to Liberton Golf Club for allowing us to play the competition on their course. The course was in great condition and the sun shone all day. Thanks to those who donated raffle prizes and bought tickets. The proceeds are used to pay for coaching for the junior girls.

Interclub at Merchants Golf Club

Craigmillar Park beat Musselburgh 8/6 in the final on Saturday afternoon.
In the morning, Craigmillar Park beat Lothianburn 12/10 in the first semi-final and Musselburgh came back to beat Kingsknowe 4/3 in the second semi-final.
There were lots of exciting matches and good golf over the three days of the competition.
Thanks to Merchants golf club members for their efficient running of the event and for their help on the course and in the clubhouse.
Thanks also to all the teams who took part and to all the supporters who came to encourage their teams and watch the matches.

Rachael new champion






Rachael Livingstone is our new champion.


Well done Rachael. She has played great golf all week.


Rachael beat Wendy Nicholson 2 up in a close semifinal this morning and went on to beat Claire Hargan 4/3 in the final this afternoon. In the final Rachael had 7 birdies and Claire had 2. Claire beat Fiona de Vries in the other close semifinal, 2 up.

Susan Dalrymple is our new B champion. She beat Margaret Alexander 2/1 in the semifinal and went on to beat Denise Turnbull 4/3 in the final.
Denise beat Zandra Mathieson 3/2 in the other semi final.

This was played today in spring like weather. The course was rather wet after all the rain but there were some good scores.
